Facebook Expands Tools To Help Creators and Video Publishers Monetize
“We’re seeing the traditional notion of a creator evolve as comedians, artists, fitness instructors, athletes, small businesses and sports organizations use video and online events to connect with their audience. To better support our partners, we’re improving the tools that help creators earn money and manage their presence on Facebook.”
Facebook is expanding its Creators tools to help streamers and other online creators make money. Features that were only region select will now be opened more broadly and Creators will have more pathways to monetize.
🇫 1st launched Fan Subscriptions which allowed select partners access to a $4.99/month fee for exclusive content and a fan badge for their profiles in early 2018.
🇫 Any creator in AUS, BR, CAN, MEX, Thailand, the UK, and US that meets the subscription eligibility criteria [having 10,000 followers or more than 250 return viewers, and either 50,000 post engagements or 180,000 watch minutes in the last 60 days, as well as abiding by Facebook’s general monetization policies] can opt in.
🇫 Company monetizes these subscriptions by taking up to 30% of subscription revenue.
🇫 Expanding the availability of Stars, a virtual currency that fans can use to tip their favorite creators.
🇫 Giving creators new ways to make money through advertising, including image and post-roll ads in short-form videos (60 to 180 seconds), as well as ads in live videos.
🇫 Improving the Creator Studio tool with features like Comment Insights and the ability to log in using Instagram credentials.
Fan subscriptions and Stars are now available to more creators:
Fan Subscriptions: People can support their favorite creators through a monthly recurring payment. Any Page in these markets that meets our eligibility criteria can now sign up here.
Stars: Fans can buy and send Stars to creators in the comments of a video. Stars are a great way to monetize live streams and get rewarded for building a loyal fan base. In-stream ads enable more types of videos to monetize with ads.
Ads in Short-form Video: Creators can now monetize 60-180 second videos with image and post-roll ads. two non-interruptive ad formats in engaging short videos.
Ads for Live Video: New type of mid-roll ad that plays in the main video player during the live stream while the broadcast keeps playing in a smaller window. Select videos that previously were live are also now eligible for monetization.
New Ad Experiences: Reworking an increase of overall payouts for video creators in Watch.

Added hourly metrics for the first 48 hours after a video is published.
Creator Studio app will now have the ability to publish and schedule Facebook posts right from the app.
