VaynerSports Adds Gaming Vertical, Offically Signs Fortnite Champion Bugha
“One of the most exciting things about it, for me, is the gamers themselves. And when I look at the culture, the interest in the sector from other athletes, artists, celebrities - it is enormous. This is a very significant expansion for VaynerSports.”
VaynerSports finally enters the gaming and esports space with the announcement of VaynerGaming. The new division will focus on esports athletes and gaming personalities, and leaves room for potential expansions into other traditional sports representation.
🕹 VaynerSports started in 2016 as a football agency.
🕹 Expanded into baseball last week.
🕹 Bugha is the 2019 Esports Gamer of the Year and most recent Fortnite World Cup Champion.
🕹 Secured long term partnerships with Samsung, Mondelez, and Five Below in tandem of Bugha’s signing.
🕹 VaynerGaming will be led by Darren Glover.
While the details are still forthcoming on their future path, VaynerGaming has its work cut out for them as they look to enter a crowded representation space that is already dominated by the Big 4 and boutique agencies.
On the surface, betting on a Fortnite Champion seems to be a great move. However, to repeat or sustain their success may prove challenging considering the long tail of the competitive scene being as volatile as it is, with power rankings continually in flux and no clear athlete consistently dominating.
